Alright, spill the beans! What's the scoop?:
BLOOD ENGINE, as i like to call it, is the next game i intend to make! The game is heavily inspired by Ultrakill and movies like Angels Egg and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. The game will be First Person and revolve around you being dropped down into different levels of a grand machine to remove the pests that are trying to bring it down.
Game description:
You are NOCTIS, a machine created by the BLOOD ENGINE to gather "pure" blood from vampires. Pulverise, shoot, slam, and syphon your way through the dying race to save your creator—the very lifeblood of this wicked and ancient world.
"Siphon, kill, siphon, KILL, SIPHON AND KILL! That's your directive, Noctis!"
The game draws significant inspiration from the gothic and futuristic designs of Angel's Egg, Castlevania, and Vampire Hunter D. The aim is to create an atmosphere that combines a gritty steampunk and industrial machine aesthetic with an angelic, church-like environment. Imagine a setting where massive wires and steam pipes intrude upon a Catholic-styled church, with both aesthetics vying for dominance within the blood engine.

I’m looking to make the gameplay really capture the vibe of games like Ultrakill and Hollow Knight. In Hollow Knight, your power is all about managing Soul for spells and healing. I want something like that in my game, but you’ll have to fight to earn it and use it carefully since there are no extra lives—just a health bar like in Ultrakill. Instead of getting health by being near enemies, you’ll collect blood, and once you have enough, you can give yourself a stim shot. During that moment, you’ll be INVINCIBLE, but only briefly. It’s not meant to be overpowered, just enough to make the mechanic interesting without copying Ultrakill.

You know, the idea of healing once you've stored enough blood could totally branch out into other cool abilities, like boosting your movement speed or letting you dash instead of doing a ground slam. And that got me thinking... what if this was a Roguelike? That would be awesome with the whole vampire blood theme. Maybe we could call it AZURE as a currency! That would be super cool.

This is still in the early stages, but I'm hoping that once this website is finished, we'll really kick things into high gear. I've been mulling over this idea for a long time in my spare time, and I'm super passionate about bringing it to life for players, or at least getting the concept down for my portfolio.
